Cleaning out the Inbox

The inbox cleaning begins with an older article that Ryan sent me from Sports Illustrated about the mysterious death of Bison Dele (previously Brian Williams) in 2002.
The article from 2013 was sent to me by Ryan and even though it is a long read, it is well worth the time even if you have never heard of Dele or even care about basketball.
It's a tragic story that likely will never reveal the true answers behind the three people's deaths in the Pacific Ocean.

Sports Collectors Daily writes of a rare find of eight 1967 Topps baseball "Rack Packs" in Texas with two of these packs showing Mickey Mantle on the front.
The find from a long-ago closed general store is being auctioned off in April and is expected to return over a thousand dollars for the "regular" packs with the Mantle packs selling for over ten thousand each.
The packs originally sold for 29 cents each and are from the second series of the 1967 set and include other Hall of Famers including Willie Stargell, Eddie Mathews, and Steve Carlton.

The Fort Myers Florida Weekly's Collector's Corner discusses a rare plate made for Franklin Roosevelt during his Presidential term that was found in a Fort Myers flea market and purchased for 9.95.
The plate was made by the National Youth Administration as part of a set that was given to Eleanor Roosevelt during a visit in 1940.
The NYA was an FDR creation that was designed to put people from the ages of 16 to 25, which was why the First Lady was visiting the facility.
The plate has been donated to the FDR Presidential Library in Hyde Park, New York.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Bureau staged a ten-day event entitled the "Python Bowl" as the public was invited to compete to catch the Burmese Python in the wild.
Eighty were caught and disposed of, but that's a very small total compared to the amount of Burmese in Florida.
The Burmese Python is mowing through native animals in Florida as the Burmese lack a predator for it in the wild in North America.
