Devils clip Flyers.Seahawks host Redskins

The New Jersey Devils played a dominant first two periods and then pulled in the reins in the 3rd on their way to a 3-0 whitewash of the visiting Philadelphia Flyers.
Paul Martin's second goal of the season staked the Devils to the only goal that they needed in the first period and Travis Zajac(6) broke a long scoring drought later in the first when his slap shot deflected off the glove of Martin Biron for the second New Jersey goal.
Zajac would leave the game later with a lacerated finger that appeared to come from a bite from Flyer Derian Hatcher.
How long is the NHL going to tolerate this stuff from this team????
Patrik Elias added a power play goal (9) to complete the scoring in the third period.
Marty Brodeur added another shutout to the books on his march to the all-time shutout top spot.
It was the 96th of his career.
The Devils travel to Buffalo tonight to take on the Sabres at 7:00.

The Seattle Seahawks begin the playoffs today at home vs Washington.
This is a winnable game and the key is to shut down the Redskin running game to force Todd Collins to beat you.
On offense, the Hawks look to throw the ball often, but need to get some running production to keep the Skins defense honest..
Our Pick:Seahawks 31-17.

In the other playoff games,we like the Jaguars over the Steelers, the Giants over the Buccaneers and the Chargers over the Titans.

Bullpen Notes

Anyone else notice that Hillary Clinton received more media for finishing third in Iowa than John Edwards did for second?
I realize that Clinton's showing is a big story, but kinda unfair.

Matt Clement to the Cardinals for 1 year and 1.5 million.
Worth the gamble to the Cards, but I still don't wish the Pirates had gotten involved.....

The Pirates did sign Elmer Dessens to a minor league deal for his second tour of duty with the Buccos.
Goody.

Brad Eldred signed a minor league deal with the White Sox.
I guess the Chi-Sox wouldn't need Ryan Howard from Philly since they have Brad Eldred....

The Devils returned Barry Tallackson and Noah Clarke to Lowell.
Clarke did score a goal against Florida in his only game action.

Edwards is facing a big cash crisis. While a bit unfair, I kind of understand why the media had written him off. Latest NH polls: Obama 10+ over Clinton with Edwards a close third. Edwards gave it a good try, but Obama lit the world on fire with his victory speech. I don't see how he can be beat.

I tend to agree that the nomination is Obama's to lose, but the media still is unfair to make the main story out of the 3rd place finisher and take away from the second.
Obama got loads of press ( and deservedly so) from his win,yet Clinton's third was the other top story.
I realize that is the press business, but still kinda unfair.
