Parise 2 Toronto 1

Sorry about missing a day,but I was literally in the middle of this post yesterday, got interrupted on the PC and did not have time to finish up.Apologies.

Zach Parise's shove under Vesa Toskala for his second goal of the evening with 48 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Devils a 2-1 win in game 1 of their four game road swing.
Parise scored the Devils first goal in the first period on the power play.
Marty Brodeur was perfect until Mats Sundin ripped a blazer over his shoulder with a power play goal with 7 minutes to go in the game.
It looked certain to go to overtime until Parise was able to emerge victorious from the battle for the puck in front of the Toronto net.
An all around solid and again low scoring effort, but was enough to grab the two points.
Tomorrow's game against Montreal is a huge game in the battle for Eastern Conference dominance.
The game in Montreal,so if the arbiters are anything like they were in the Devils last visit to the Molson Centre, the Devils had better solve their offensive woes!

Devils Pitchforks
Gold:Marty Brodeur-Sheer Excellence,42 saves
Silver:Zach Parise-2 goals
Bronze:Jamie Langenbrunner-2 assists

Bullpen Notes

Last time out,I forgot to mention the excellent play of the newest Devil-Brice Salvador.
Salvador completely took the Devils nemesis Vincent LeCavalier out of the Tampa game and made him a non-factor.

We went 2 for 3 in our predictions of this past weekends fights.
We were correct in calling Samuel Peter and David Haye's KO wins, but missed on the upset by Nate Campbell over Juan Diaz, although I thought it would be a close fight.
We saw Campbell winning 115-112 .
The Peter-Maskaev fight was more entertaining than I though it would be and David Haye was super impressive in his second round KO.
Haye will be vacating his Cruiserweight belts to move up to Heavyweight and the exciting power puncher could be an interesting move to the division, but Cruisers have traditionally struggled in their move upward.
Peter will be defending his newly won belt against the returning Vitali Klitschko and a victory would likely mean a rematch and further title unifying against IBF champ Wladimir Klitschko.
Klitschko won a well deserved decision over Peter despite Peter scoring three knockdowns.

And finally, just a stat for those of you that pump gas into your cars.
Price of one gallon of gas on the day of George Bush's inauguration $1.42
Price of one gallon of gas as of one hour ago $ 3.15
And George Bush and Dick Cheney cannot figure out why Americans think they are in bed with Oil companies..

Sorry about the lack of pictures.
Blogger is having trouble uploading today,I will add them ASAP.
