Devils bounce Bruins,Pirates roasted in hotlanta.

The New Jersey Devils overcame the Boston Bruins and the NHL video review room in Toronto to grab a 3-2 shootout win and clinch at least the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.
The Devils scored early in the game on a Dainius Zubrus goal (13).
The Zubrus,Mike Rupp,David Clarkson line had an excellent outing and had were involved in both Devil goals.
After Boston tied the game at 1,Zubrus appeared to score a wraparound goal that would have given the Devils the lead back and the referees called it just that.
However,Tim Thomas dug the puck out of his goal and in,frustration flung the puck into the corner.
No complaint to the official, just frustration at allowing the goal.
But instead, the less than stellar video review room in Toronto took ten minutes to decide that the puck was not in the net.
Bad call.
Why bother to review at all,if one makes the wrong call?
At worst, the review was inconclusive and the ruling was a goal, isn't the general rule of thumb to overturn only the obvious?
Well, shortly after that, the Bruins Milan Lucic broke the tie and I was fit to be tied!!
I really think Lucic is a coming star in this league, remember that name folks!
In the third period, the Bruins did an excellent job on the backcheck and were able to keep the Devils from sustained offensive surges and appeared to be on their way to the win.
But the checking line bailed the Devils out as David Clarkson crashed the net and put in his 9th goal of the year to tie the game.
After a scoreless overtime, the shootout beckoned and after 4 Bruin misses and 3 Devil rejections,Zach Parise beat Tim Thomas with an arcing backhand shot for the game winner.
The Devils return to action in Philadelphia Friday at 7:00.

The Pittsburgh Pirates battled the Braves close for 7 innings in Atlanta and moved into the Brave 8th down only 3-2.
But the worrisome bullpen allowed 7 runs in the inning and Atlanta cruised to a 10-2 win.
Amazingly, the biggest culprit was Damaso Marte, who allowed 4 of the runs.
Wasnt Marte supposed to be one of the two that we could count on?
At least he did get an out tonight.
It was just one,but small steps.
Tom Gorzelanny took the loss (0-1) allowing 3 runs in 6 innings, despite not appearing to be very sharp and having trouble in not hanging his curve, which resulted in an Atlanta homer off him in 4th.
Not a bad outing, just seemed a bit dull.
Both Bucco runs were scored on Xavier Nady's 6th inning single, keep building that trade value,Xavier!!

Silver:Tom Gorzelanny-hung in without his best stuff
