Devils win in shootout over Tampa

The New Jersey Devils played well in all aspects of the game and could have been well on their way to a huge win if not for the play of Tampa Antero Nittamaki, but David Clarkson scored the only goal of the shootout and the Devils left Tampa with a 2-1 win.
Travis Zajac scored the Devils only regulation goal (6) in the victory.
The Devils are off until Wednesday when they return to the ice against Washington.

Hell Raisers

1) Not sure what got into Nittamaki on this day,but his performance gave Tampa a point when the game could have easily been 5-1.
The Devils had good opportunities and good shots, but the play of Nittamaki was superb.

2) The Devils sent Matt Halischuk down to Lowell after Patrik Elias has begun to practice.
Elias must be close to a return or the Devils would not sacrifice the depth.
Halischuk showed flashed of promise, but the extra time in Lowell isn't going to hurt his progress any.

3) Travis Zajac scored his goal through grit and hustle.
After he won the faceoff,Zajac got to the net,got a piece of a Mark Fraser shot and then back into position for the rebound.
This truly looks to be the breakout year for Zajac and I thought last year was his breakout year.

4) The Devils did have a rare penalty shot chance against Tampa with Jamie Langenbrunner, but Nittimaki made the save.
The penalty shot is exciting and I like it,but I am not sure if the team that has the shot shouldn't have the choice of either the shot or a power play.
Food for thought...

5) Tampa wore their alternate jerseys with Royal Blue replacing black as the main color, which I thought looked better, but they used Bolts in diagonal (think NY Rangers) instead of Lightning.
Kinda ruined the whole thing.

With vacation approaching,I will miss the next three Devils games,so just a heads up on that....
Back later with the Browns tape review and some rumors flying around Cleveland.
