Cleaning out the inbox

We start with the inbox with a note on the Browns from Cincinnati of all places as a long time Browns fan uses the opinion page to discuss how the relentless losing has destroyed the legacy of a once proud franchise.
The column is quite detailed on the history of the Browns, the city, things done right and those that went awry from a fan that sees things from a distant perspective....

ESPN's uni-watch discusses the classic look of the Oakland Raiders.
The Raiders uniforms have had a few subtle changes, but most you have to look closely to see.
I really love the silver numbers on white jerseys that the Raiders only used for one season (1970),but use on occasion as throwbacks.
Is it just me or do all the AFL teams have great uniforms that they still use or should be using (Chargers,Pats, Dolphins)?

SB Nation writes about the Houston Cougars, the city of Houston and the attempts of the Cougars to make their program the dominant one in the city that they reside in.
The article is pretty deep into the city itself and the Cougars and the struggles that the team has had breaking into the upper tier of college football.
The article was written before Tom Herman left for the Texas Longhorns.

The Wichita Eagle reports the passing of another New York baseball Giants as Daryl Spencer passed away at the age of 88.
Spencer is also known for hitting the first homer after the Giants moved to San Francisco.....
