It wasn't all smooth for Catterall, who suffered a knockdown of his own in the fifth round when a Prograis jab knocked Catterall off balance with Catterall touching the canvas unhurt.
Catterall would score his knockdowns with left hands late in round nine and give Prograis credit for fighting ganely through the final three rounds.
Official scores of 117-108 and 116-109 twice (same as my card) for Catterall, who added Prograis to Jorge Linares and Josh Taylor as his victims over the last year.
Catterall continues to improve and I'd favor him over any of the junior welterweight champions, including Teofimo Lopez.
I know many think Catterall would be no match for Lopez but Lopez struggles against boxers and Catterall has the style to dazzle Lopez.
Prograis gave his best in losing his second fight in a row (after losing to Devin Haney) but he's past his prime and I'd hate to see him transition into a divisional gatekeeper, which is where he is headed at the this time.
