Color Rush!

The Cleveland Browns have high expectations for the first time in over a decade and the news has generally been positive for their off-season moves.

The Browns are on such a roll entering the 2019 season that they even managed to have the NFL agree to make their "color rush" jerseys from last season that Browns fans loved (they looked like the old jerseys except the numbers changed from white to orange) to their primary jersey to allow them to wear them more often instead of the crappy ones that were created in 2015 and likely will be trashed for the 2020 season!
I know that seems like a small and insignificant topic to post about, but it is a big deal to Browns fans. who watched their traditional uniforms thrown away basically because Jimmy and Dee Haslem along with Alec Scheiner (haven't written that name in a while, thank goodness) wanted their idea of taste rather than what Browns fans preferred.

The surprise to me isn't that the Browns decided to throw a bone to their fans, give up on just how hated their designed uniforms were, or even that the Browns may even have preferred them at this point.
The real surprise is the NFL knuckling under and allowing the Browns extra dates with the alternate uniforms.
Usually, the league is hardcore on these types of issues, but they must have realized that with the Browns changing for 2020, their current jerseys aren't going to sell anyway and it is all about selling merchandise with them, isn't it?

It's a small thing in the big picture.
Uniforms don't score a point or stop someone on a fourth down with the game on the line. but what they can do is be a very small part of building the culture or give someone a feeling of pride.
It has to be tough to feel pride when you are dressed like a clown.
Bad uniforms can and are worn by good teams, but think about the teams that build dynastys or teams that are good for years upon years and how many of those wear awful uniforms?
The only one that I can think off-hand is the Patriots and even though I like the Red and Pat the Patriot better, New England has made theirs better than when they first changed from the traditional look.

In any event, it is a good thing as the final year of the Haslem Horror style togs will see less of them.
Hopefully, the Browns will play as well as their color rush uniforms look.

I'm working on a Browns preview that will hopefully be ready before Sunday.
