Bobby Bowden resigns,Roy Jones blasted out...

Boxing fans may or may not be disappointed, but the Roy Jones -Bernard Hopkins rematch of their fight from 1993 looks to be off.
Both fighters were taking warmup fights for the rematch today with Hopkins taking on Enrique Ornelas tonight live on Versus (I know,I know) with Jones battling Danny Green in Australia being shown on tape delay.
The problem is that Green blasted Jones out of the lucrative fight with a first round knockout.
I was never a Jones fan,so I cannot say that I don't find this amusing, but it also saves boxing fans from yet another boring 12 round Roy Jones fight.
So from ThoughtsofRS-Thank You Danny Green!!!

And for those of you that "must have forgot" about the ego of Jones, check the video below and you will quickly remember!

Bobby Bowden will end his long coaching career after Florida State's bowl game later this month.
This has been coming for a while as the once powerful Seminole program has slipped quite a bit over the last few seasons.
I think a lot of the slippage started with Urban Meyer arriving at Florida, not because the Gators were winning a lot, both programs were among the elite when Steve Spurrier was there.
The difference is that Meyer's youth and fresh offense was more attractive to recruits than the elderly Bowden and his tried and true coordinators.
In any case, best wishes to Bowden in his retirement years....

The Cleveland Indians shipped Kelly Shoppach to Tampa for a player to be named later.
Shoppach struggled with the bat last season and being arbitration eligible made him more expensive than the Indians wanted to pay.
Catching is the Cleveland system's strong suit as Lou Marson and Wyatt Toregas should be able to hold down the fort until top prospect Carlos Santana arrives either midway through 2010 or 2011 at the latest.

The Pirate signed mediocre lefty Wil Ledesma to a non-roster contract.
Nothing to get excited about here....

Sorry to hear of the passing of Yankee great Tommy Henrich at the age of 96 in Dayton,Ohio.
The five time all star was the final link to the days of the 40's Yankee powerhouses....
