Devils news

The New Jersey Devils return to action tonight in their only meeting this season against the Vancouver Canucks.
The Devils exploded with a four goal third period on Saturday to pull away with a 6-1 afternoon win over the Islanders at the Rock.
Devils goals to Zach Parise (15),Brian Rolston (7 PP and 8),Patrik Elias(2 PP and 3) and Mike Mottau (1).

Hell Raisers

1) We thought Brian Rolston was on the verge of a breakout and it came against the Islanders.
Two goals and two assists to go along with seven more shots on goal on the night and that makes me think that finally Rolston is rounding back into form after his injury of last season and his not meshing well with Brent Sutter.

2) The Devils made one move on the roster before the game as Vladimir Zharkov was brought up from Lowell and Tyler Eckford was returned to Lowell.
The Devils needed a right wing with the injury to David Clarkson and Zharkov was the choice.
Zharhov was the Devils third round pick in the 2006 draft and I thought that he looked solid in his NHL debut.

3) This game could have been far worse for the Islanders as four Devil blasts found iron including two from Matt Halischuk.

4) The veteran defenders continue to keep the fort under control without Paul Martin and Johnny Oduya.
Bryce Salvador and Andy Greene continue their fine play and Mike Mottau scored his first goal and added an assist on the afternoon.

5) Nice to see Matt Corrente getting a little bit of ice and dropped the gloves for the first time in the NHL against Tim Jackman and acquitted himself quite well.

6) David Clarkson's ankle isn't as bad as it could have been as a small bone in his ankle was broken against Boston.
The difference? Being out 4 to 6 weeks instead of 8 to 12....

7)The only Islander goal was a bullet from the outside circle by Richard Park.
Remember Park making our top five forwards that we wished the Devils would acquire?

8) Some of the injured Devils are close to returning.
Rob Niedermayer comes back against Vancouver tonight,Jay Pandolfo and Johnny Oduya have begun practicing,so maybe in a week or so for them..
