Clippers sink Cavaliers 121-99

The Cleveland Cavaliers hung around for a half against the Los Angeles Clippers, but couldn't sustain the effort in the second half as the Clippers defeated the Cavaliers 121-99 in Cleveland.

Collin Sexton scored 27 points and Darius Garland added 23 to lead the Cavaliers in defeat.

Cleveland will host Milwaukee on Friday night.

Swashbucklings

1) For a half, this really was competitive, but the superior talent and depth wore the Cavaliers down in the fourth, but that excuse doesn't totally wash as the Clippers outscored Cleveland by eleven in the third quarter.

2) Paul George hit eight three-pointers in his nine attempts.

Cleveland hit four as a team.

3) Andre Drummond's return wasn't an overwhelming success as Drummond finished with thirteen points and a surprisingly low five rebounds in twenty-two minutes of play.

Drummond hit only four of thirteen shots from the floor and seemed very out of place for only missing one game.

4) Cleveland started a run of ten games that should decide if the Cavaliers have a real shot at a playoff berth or are just an overachieving bunch that won some early games on hustle and effort.

Cleveland's next nine games (Plus this loss to the Clippers) are all against teams that would be in the playoffs as of today and five of those are on the road against Western Conference teams.

5) The Cavaliers take and make the fewest three-pointers in the league.

This creates a conundrum.

Do you begin to try to take more three's because other teams are shooting and making more to keep pace, even though that's clearly not a strength of the team?

Or do you keep being yourself, knowing that you are giving away three points to your two, and take your chances in doing what you do best- even if it puts you in a hole.

Not an easy choice and why the Cavaliers could be forced to give Dylan Windler more playing time, if they decide to change things up and shoot more three's.
