Boxing Challenge

We start the boxing weekend with a Friday night slate from Matchroom/DAZN from Manchester, New Hampshire with the main event pitting undefeated WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade defending his title against Jason Quigley.

Andrade is the middleweight that no one wants to face because he's a mover, a talented fighter, and brings very little to the table in name recognition and dollar value.

As a result, Andrade has been forced to face lower contenders and no-hopers just to remain active and he is fighting another one in Quigley, a former amateur star, that lost to the best fighter that he has fought when Tureano Johnson stopped him in nine rounds in 2019, and arguably should have lost his last fight, a majority decision win over Shane Mosley Jr, who is far from a contender.

The only real question seems to be whether Andrade scores the stoppage.

Murodjon Akhmadaliev defends his WBA and IBF junior featherweight titles and late replacement Jose Velasquez of Chile in what now amounts to be a stay busy fight.

Akhmadaliev was originally slated to face mandatory challenger Ronny Rios. who fell out due to illness.

Another title is at stake as Julio Cesar Martinez defends his WBC flyweight title against his mandatory contender in McWilliams Arroyo.

The exciting Martinez is one of the four exciting flyweight champions that would make a fun four-fighter tournament and Arroyo is a veteran that has challenged for various titles on three occasions but fell short.

This one will be the best fight of the evening.
