Kambosos never was able to figure out Lomachenko, who was more aggressive than he had been in recent bouts and looked very sharp.
Lomachenko knocked Kambosos down in the eleventh with a body shot and after Kambosos gamely rose, was returned to the floor from more Lomachenko bodywork with the Kambosos corner tossing in the towel to end the match.
Lomachenko will likely face either of the two Top Rank promoted champions in his next fight either WBC champion Shakur Stevenson or the winner of the vacant WBO title match between Emnanuel Navarette and Denis Barnachyk.
Kambosos may have seen his best days behind him and I'm not sure that he'll have another title shot again.
In the co-feature, Pedro Guevara won a minor junior bantamweight title with a split decision over Australia's Andrew Moloney.
Moloney dominated the first half of the fight but Guevara's bodywork earned him the back half and the decision with two scores of 115-113 (same as mine) with the other going to Moloney 106-103.
In Mexico, Rocky Hernandez rebounded from his final round KO loss to O'Shaquie Foster with a seventh round stoppage of Daniel Lugo.
Lugo had Hernandez in big trouble in the third round but was unable to finish Hernandez, who closed the show in the seventh.
In England, middleweight Denzel Bentley destroyed Danny Dignum in two round in a crossroads fight between victims of Janibek Alimkhanuly.
Bentley scored three knockdowns in round two for the victory.
