Bucs win,Frederick a nightmare
The Pirates defeated the Chicago White Sox yesterday 4-2.
Paul Maholm avoided a tough 1st inning jam by allowing just one run on the way to his 3rd win of the year.
Jose Bautista and Xavier Nady both knocked in 2 RBI for the Pirates.
Matt Capps pitched the 9th for his 4th save of the year.
Sorry so short,I missed the games as I was dumb enough to go to the Frederick Keys games vs the Potomac Nationals.
Potomac blasted the Suns 12-3,but I left in the 5th.
John Patterson was the starter for Potomac on rehab assignment.
Patterson allowed all 3 of the Frederick runs, including a homer by Zach Dillon.
I ordinarily do not blast the Frederick Keys, but last night was the worst night that I have ever been at Frederick.
I waited 25 minutes for 2 cheeseburgers and had several obnoxious fans setting around me.
They were nearly sold out and struggled with infra-structure,perhaps it is time for a renovation at Harry Grove.
Or at least the realization of hiring more workers for the weekend games.....
Pitching Matchups
Atlanta-John Smoltz 7-3 at Cleveland-Paul Byrd 6-2 3;30
Chicago White Sox-Mark Buehrle 3-3 at Pittsburgh-John Van Benschoten 0-0 7;00
On the signing front.......
Got most of the Lexington Legends thus far and most of the big catches.
Koby Clemens and Max Sapp were the big catches.
Clemens was not unfriendly, but was very quiet. We caught him in the "Will Smith castle" and cornered him where he had no exit available.
He signed all that he had,but did not utter a word in response.
Sapp was a good guy and signer.
At Frederick, the Keys and the Nationals were not as productive as usual, but not too bad.
Did get Justin Maxwell and Mike Daniel to sign their Savannah cards.
Also got the noted "Nasty" Ian Desmond to sign a card for Ryan.
Desmond is noted for being a horrid signer.
On the Frederick side,Ryan was able to get most of the Keys best prospects-Brandon Erbe,David Hernandez and Blake Davis.
John Patterson blew me off and refused to sign.
Ran right by me and said he had no time.
He had to hurry up to stand in the bullpen alone, holding a ball for 10 minutes.
Wrestling Manager Sensational Sherri passed away yesterday at 49.
I have no further details, but will link when I find something.
Sherri was a noted manager in the AWA,WWF and WCW.
I have more to talk about, but time is short.
We will have a longer Bullpen Notes tomorrow.
