Van Benschoten moves up to Pittsburgh,Van Allen up to Potomac

The Pirates are finally listening to the die-hard fans as John Van Benschoten has been called up from AAA Indianapolis and will start Saturday vs the White Sox.
B.P Chacon will return to his former role in the bullpen and someone will go to Indianapolis after today's game to make room for JVB.
I would wager on either Josh Sharpless or Matsumi Kuwata.
If I had to pick which one,I would say Sharpless.
I would move Kuwata, but this is the Pirates,so they will send out Sharpless.

Our Favorite Sun pitcher Cory Van Allen got the call to move to Potomac last night.
Cory told me about his promotion after the Suns 3-2 loss to Lexington last night, following his signing of a foul ball that Ryan caught Monday night.
I was able to get both the pitcher (Van Allen) and the hitter (Adrian Cardenas) to sign it for him.
Congratulations to Cory,he deserves it and he is a great guy to boot.
I will see Cory and the other former Suns tonight in Frederick as the P-Nationals take on the Keys.

The Pirates lost to the Rangers in their finale last night at PNC Park 6-0.
The Pirates continue to make horrible pitchers look great.
Russ Ortiz,Kip Wells and Kameron Loe are simply awful pitchers and all have beaten Pittsburgh this season and dominated them to boot.
I am going to try forget this one quickly.

The Indians defeated the Florida Marlins last night 3-2 in Miami.
Jason Stanford allowed just one run in 6+ innings to earn his 1st win.
Victor Martinez homered (13) and doubled to pace the offense.
Victor has 56 RBI on the year.

The Hagerstown Suns dropped a 3-2 decision to the Lexington Legends last night.
A well played game,as Hagerstown scored both their runs on newcomer Bobby Jacobsen's pinch hit homer.
Player I was impressed by was Lexington's Reid Kelly.
Kelly fanned 5 in 2 and a third to earn the save.
Our new favorite Sun,Erik Arneson pitched 2 innings in relief, allowing 1 run.

Pitching Matchups
Chicago White Sox-Jon Garland 4-3 at Pittsburgh-Paul Maholm 2-9
Atlanta-Buddy Carlyle 1-1 at Cleveland C.C. Sabathia 9-1

Bullpen notes

It seems like the Pirates are doing things that the Bloggers and Smart fans want done.
Van Benschoten up,B.P. Chacon in the pen,the lazy combo of Jack Wilson and Ronny Paulino on the bench,Jose Castillo given one last shot etc.
My question is this-are they wising up?
Or is this an effort to allow the criticism of the Daniel Moskos pick to die down by using these moves as a diversion??

I have been told by a member of the Suns organization that Roger Clemens will be at Municipal Stadium either Friday or Saturday to see Lexington's Koby Clemens play.
We shall see...

Hagerstown demoted Erik Arnesen to the bullpen.Bad move.
Erik seems to be a starter-type to me and what I saw last night solidified my opinion.
Put Erik back in the rotation!!!!

Cleveland Cavaliers lost by one to San Antonio last night and got swept.
Too bad,but still the best season in Cleveland history.
Now,Danny Ferry-figure out a way to move Larry Hughes and get LeBron some REAL help!!

Congrats to Martin Brodeur for winning the Vezina trophy last night in Toronto.
Well deserved, although Roberto Luongo was deserving as well, when the record for wins in a season falls, you cannot not give that player the Vezina.

Back later or tomorrow with all the games and on the signing front from Hagerstown,Lexington,Potomac and Frederick!!!
