Devils knot series 5-3

Game two was a must win for the New Jersey Devils and they managed to just that with a 5-3 win at the Rock over Philadelphia.
Devils goals to Zach Parise (shorthanded),Andy Greene (power play),Colin White,Dainius Zubrus and Ilya Kovalchuk (empty net).
Game 3 in Philly on Sunday at six.

Hell Raisers

1) The Devils came out strong in the beginning and didn't fall apart when the Flyers took a 2-1 lead.
A simple point, but the Devils have allowed games to get away from them in the past-not tonight.

2) Zach Parise's shorthanded goal set the stage for the game and he was flying all over the ice all game.To me,Parise was the heart and soul of the team in this game...

3) Ilya Kovalchuk scored a goal and two assists and continued to show tons of intensity, but that was to the teams detriment as well as Kovalchuk committed three penalties on the night.
I have been so pleasantly surprised by Kovalchuk's passion, but allowing players that play 5 to 10 minutes to send you to the sin bin isn't helping the team any.

4) Nine penalties on the evening for the Red and Black with three of them being interference.
Colin White seemed a bit out of control on both penalties of his and needs to take it down just a notch.
Credit to the Devils for the penalty killers for eating seven of nine, but committing that many penalties will kill you sooner or later..

5) Matt Corrente was activated and Rod Pelley scratched for this one.
Surprising, but Corrente played well in his limited ice time...

6) Talk of the series is the officiating and it did seem that some of the Devils penalties were borderline, but you cannot get too caught up in that, although Mike Richards cheap shot on Zach Parise (uncalled) was too blatant to be missed.
