Pirates cleanup

Time for some notes on the Buccos to clear the deck a bit...

I have not seen a Pirate game on this road trip, but it is possible that I could see today's finale' against the Giants.
Things should be back to normal with the weekend return to PNC Park against the Reds.
However, keep in mind that the Devils begin their postseason tonight against the Flyers,so playoff hockey could knock the Pirates off the deck on those nights.

A win today would give the Pirates a split of the six game road swing.
Charlie Morton goes for the Pirates against Jonathan Sanchez for the Giants.
Morton enters the game after a bad outing in Arizona.

Hayden Penn was designated for assignment after his rough start.
Penn is expected to clear waivers and be assigned to Indianapolis.

Ross Ohlendorf missed his Monday start against the Giants with back spasms which caused Brian Burres to get the emergency start up from Indianapolis.
Burres allowed six runs over four innings.
Ohlendorf is scheduled to throw on the side today, but if he is unable to throw,he is likely to be placed on the DL..

Big start for Pedro Alvarez in Indy as far as power goes with three early homers.
Jose Tabata is 8 for 24,while Brad Lincoln was rocked in his first start allowing seven runs in just over three innings of work.

Nice start for one of our favorites in Altoona as Mike Crotta is 1-0 with a 0.69 ERA in his first two starts of the season.
Crotta has compiled a microscopic 0.23 WHIP over his first 13 innings of the season.

Wilbur Miller offers an interesting perspective on what the Pirates have done right and wrong in their quest for impact talent.
Wilbur's insights always bring something worth thinking about to the table.

I will make my best effort to see today's game,no promises between playoff hockey and trying to work on the Lakewood Blue Claws.
