Brewers grind out 7-2 win over Pirates

Dumb baseball, slow bats and average pitching was the recipe for a 7-2 Pirate loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.
Freddy Sanchez handed the Brewers their first run by not knowing how many outs there were, when instead of finishing a double play ball to end the inning with a peg to first,he took a few steps towards the dugout and allowed the run to score.
Losing pitcher Paul Maholm (2-5) did reasonably well until allowing a backbreaking homer to Mike Cameron in the seventh that increased the Brewers lead from 2-0 to 4-0.
Maholm pitched 6 and a third innings allowing four runs on 9 hits, struck out 5 and walked two.
The Brewers added insurance runs in both the 8th and 9th off Sean Burnett and Marino Salas.
Jason Bay's two run homer in the bottom of the ninth (10) avoided the shutout.
The Buccos finished with just six hits on the evening against five Milwaukee hurlers.
The Brewers visit continues tonight at 7:05.

Bullpen Notes

As an avowed Interleague play hater,I realize that I have a bias against it.
But Jeff Passan likes it and has several ideas to bolster it even more.
They all suck.

The Altoona Mirror is reporting the landlord of Blair County Ballpark and the Altoona Curve are at odds on the worsening condition of the field.
The Curve lost two home dates due to the field having problems absorbing the rain and they likely lost quite a few dollars as Jack Wilson was scheduled to rehab at Altoona, but the Pirates heard about the field problems and instead sent Wilson to Indianapolis to avoid a possible recurrence of Wilson's calf injury.
The lease between the Curve and the stadium expires at the end of the season.

And for those of you that hate the NBA and believe that much of what they do is pre-determined,another arrow has just arrived in your quiver as the Chicago Bulls won the draft lottery for the top pick from the 9th spot.
I don't care for lotteries and even though I hate to see teams dogging it for draft spots.that beats the constant problems that are caused when the worst team doesn't get the top pick.
Especially when a large market/marquee team gets the pick.
It just looks bad.

Back again with tonights Bucco game.
