Seamhead stitchings

I missed the end of the Pirate game yesterday to take in a few innings of the wind bowl at the Muni, but saw the majority of the win.
Andrew McCutchen smacked two homers, but Octavio Dotel continued his struggles in blowing another save.
I was pleased with D.J. Carrasco's scoreless three innings in vulturing the victory.
This is the type of inning eating outing that Carrasco is capable of in strengthening the long to middle relief positions...

Looks like I will miss games until Sunday with the Pirates in Los Angeles and the Indians are not a fall back option tonight, although they will be tomorrow against the Twins.

The work game of the night since the Pirates finished in Milwaukee early was the Giants hosting the Phillies.
Tim Lincecum against Cole Hamels was the game of the day and Lincecum was just two bullpen outs away for the W after 8 dominant one run innings.
Lincecum allowed just three hits and a Ryan Howard homer and was as fun to watch as always with Comcast Bay Area showing some shots in super slow motion that broke down his delivery better than I have ever seen.
Lincecum was tabbed with a no decision after the Phillies rallied for the tying runs off Brian Wilson.
The Phillies took the 7-6 win in eleven innings.

Was able to see Giants number one pick Zach Wheeler last night for Augusta against the Hagerstown Suns.
Wheeler allowed one run in just under five innings, but I was impressed with his loose and easy delivery with little effort.
One sees so many pitchers at the lower levels that have great stuff, but put so much strain on their arms that often they leave the best of the abilities in the lower minors.
Wheeler has a long way to go,but I really liked what I saw.

Next homestand for the Suns features the Asheville Tourists and their top pick from last season in Tyler Matzek.
It will be interesting to compare Matzek to Wheeler and I'll try to do it here...

More changes to the All Star game with expanding rosters, full time DH's and pitchers that pitch on the Sunday before the game will be replaced on the roster.
All of them make sense, but the All Star game just isn't the same as it used to be.
Interleague play ruined that and nothing short of dumping that is going to bring it back to prominence...

Finally,a new arrival to the links page as my good friend Corey has started Logical Sports talk.
Corey will cover several things, but it appears that his focus will be on the Red Sox and Oakland Raiders.
Check him out in the links page.
