Ohio State thunders past Marshall

Ohio State controlled the game from the opening kickoff (which Marshall fumbled) and only a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown kept the Buckeyes from an opening game shutout.
Instead,Ohio State settled for a 45-7 win on cruise control.
Terrell Pryor threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns, while Brandon Saine scored twice and finished with over 100 yards on the ground.
The competition gets stiffer next week as the Miami Hurricanes visit Columbus in what should be an excellent gauge for the Buckeyes season...

Buckeye Leaves

1) Had to love the Terrell Pryor to Dane Sanzenbacher 65 yard touchdown pass.
Sanzenbacher made a few nice moves to get to the end zone, but Pryor's pass showed some nice deep touch, which was an area that was severely lacking at times last season...

2) A glimpse into the future came on the opening kickoff when Dorian Bell jarred the ball loose with a strong hit that OSU recovered.
Remember that name, next year,Bell will be the linebacking star....

3) Brandon Saine's 45 yard run for a touchdown showed his track star speed and exactly why I prefer Saine becoming the lead back instead of Boom Herron.
Herron will never be a game breaker,Saine can be.

4) Brian Rolle's interception TD was meaningless on the scoreboard, but what a run as Rolle ran all over the field and over Marshall players to reach the end zone.
Rolle is such a high energy player that he makes the other players on the field hustle to reach his level...

5) The only downside on the night was the blocked field goal that gave Marshall their only score.
If Jim Tressel plans on using Drew Basil as the long range booter, someone needs to work on his getting the ball in the air higher.
Watching the replay,it looked like almost anyone could have blocked the kick...

6) Not much doubt who Terrelle Pryor's go to receiver is as both times in the red zone,Pryor looked for DeVier Posey, who caught two TD's.
Nothing wrong with that, but Pryor is going to have to find another pass catcher over the course of the year for that situation or teams will sit on Posey.

7) Last night was OK,but I hope the team doesn't make a habit of these Thursday openers.
They just don't do much for me.

8) Miami beat on Florida A & M to set up week two's game of the week.
This could be a tough one and might depend on which Jacory Harris shows up for the Canes.
Harris is capable of both huge and awful games..

9) A rumor from Buckeye Bulletin has a wealthy Penn State donor that sold a business for billions of dollars donating money for a Penn State hockey program.
If that comes true, that would make six Big Ten ice teams (OSU,Michigan State,Wisconsin,Minnesota and michigan) and the conference would then qualify for an automatic bid to the NCAA tourney..
