Cleaning out the inbox-Sports version

The inbox is overflowing and needs to be reduced,so today I'll be dumping the sports portion and later in the week (most likely Wednesday or Thursday) will empty the non-sports portion.

We start with two stories from Cleveland Scene magazine about the late Richfield Coliseum.
I've noted in the past that the Coliseum ranks number one on places that I wished that I would have been to have seen that I no longer have a chance to visit list.
However,I might have one chance to "visit' it in a way as one article discusses where the floor to the Coliseum is today.
Yep,the floor that the Cavaliers played on for the great Mark Price,Larry Nance etc teams is still in use and it still has the Coliseum logo on it!.
It's used by a small school named Grace Christian School in Staunton VA,a town that has a special place with Cherie,Ryan and I for a different reason.
Read the article and check it out! Maybe someday,I'll get to see the floor, take some photos and even shoot some baskets!

This Richfield article talks to two brothers that used to work at the Coliseum and claim that they have more memorabilia than anyone from the Coliseum in history.
It also talks about how they got one last chance to run through and grab some really cool stuff.....
I would have loved to have had that opportunity!!!

More on the Richfield Coliseum from the Cleveland Plain Dealer as this is the 20th anniversary of the final event at the Coliseum.
This article looks at the Coliseum from beginning to end and is a pretty neat read.

Grantland offers an article on the best scorer to never play in the NBA on Brazil's Oscar Schmidt.
I remember Schmidt bombing away in international play and what a shooter!
Schmidt was the leader of the Brazilian gold medal winning team in the 1987 Pan American games that single handedly took out a United States entry with several future stars such as David Robinson and Danny Manning...
Think of him as a Brazilian World B.Free with better shooting range!

We finish with this from ESPN and the 40th anniversary of Mike Marshall's National League Cy Young win.
The durable reliever posted numbers that won't be seen again,I assure you and discusses his usage in detail as well as his feelings on the Dodgers, workload and his pitching technique.
David Schoenfield provides a thought provoking article here.

Back later with Devils and Cavaliers reports...
