Devils Bullied in Boston 4-2

Another day, another loss for the slumping New Jersey Devils as the Devils took it on the chin in another road loss, this time in Boston and the Bruins 4-2.
Travis Zajac started the scoring (2) and the Devils allowed the next two goals before tying the game on Jaromir Jagr's goal (3) in the second period.
Boston would then score the final two goals later in the period before a scoreless third period.
The Devils return home tonight against the Minnesota Wild.

Hell Raisers

1) Let's start with the game winning goal by Seth Griffith with a between the legs, croquet style shot that Cory Schneider missed
Was there a lot of luck in the shot? Yes,there is always a certain element of luck in any crazy shot in any sporting event, but it was a bad goal by Schneider...

2) Mike Cammalleri returned from injury and assisted on both Devils goals.
Injury and length of contract are still a question on Cammalleri for me,but this team looks so much stronger on offense when Cammalleri is on the ice...

3) On to the griping-Many Devils fans have been looking for the head of Peter DeBoer for a while.
Lou Lamoriello has been steadfast in his belief in DeBoer and DeBoer's job seemed safe, but the first crack in the statue may have shown last night after the game.
DeBoer was critical of Cory Schneider's play saying "he needs to be better" and was "just average".
The Devils are invested in Cory Schneider.
They have a number one pick, shuttling off the best goaltender in franchise history for him and a large long term contract all with Schneider.
When the player doesn't perform as predicted and the coach isn't on board, someone will pay.
And it isn't the player....

4) Marek Zidlicky and Bryce Salvador continued to be a pair and they were the two that were beaten on the Croquet goal.
I get tired of writing some of the same stuff all the time, but facts are facts and the Devils are hamstrung enough with those two playing-let alone matching them as a team....

5) I'm just frustrated.
The young players aren't developing as I think they should (Larsson and Gelinas make mistakes),the veterans are overmatched, the high priced next generation goalie is struggling and the coach? Well,I saw that a long time ago.
In any event,I'm watching a long stretch of mediocre hockey that for the first time ever,I'm beginning to question the long term vision for the franchise.
I'm not jumping ship, but beginning to wonder on occasion just what we are building here.....

Back later with the Cavaliers vs the Pelicans....
