Pigskin Pickin' Machine

The PPM is back with college and the first week of the NFL season.

Ohio State (1-0) hosts a sleeper in Central Florida, who is expected to be the top contender in Conference USA.
The Knights (1-0) have a balanced offense and like the Buckeyes, trounced a MAC opponent last week (Akron).
This one might be closer than the spread predicts.

Bowling Green (0-1) hosts Idaho after a better than expected showing at Florida last week.
The visiting Vandals (0-1) scored just three points at home in a loss to 1-AA Eastern Washington last week,so I look for the Falcons to do well at Doyt Perry Stadium...

Another trap game for the Texas Tech Red Raiders (1-0) as they travel to 1-0 Texas State, who knocked off Houston in Houston last week in their Division One debut.
The Red Raiders now get to travel to San Marcos for the first home game for the Bobcats in D-1 and despite a 50-10 Tech win last year, the score was 10-9 Texas State at the half.
I think that this one is going to be closer than I would have thought a week ago....
Unless Flat Top Myers has transferred to Lubbock to unbalance the scale that is...

No games this week between two teams in the top 25,which is disappointing,so we have to go for an interesting game instead of one that could be a pickem game.
How about michigan getting splattered as we predicted against Alabama and now going home to face an option team in Air Force?
This might shut the mouth of Brady Hoke for a while as Air Force will at least cover the 21 point spread,if not scare the skunks a bit....

To the NFL where the Browns host the Eagles and this does not look good for the Brownies.
Cleveland will have to shut down an explosive offense and then hope that Brandon Weeden plays well in his first start.
Possible? Yes,Likely? No.
I just don't see this one being close considering its the opener,if they played later in the year, perhaps, but not now....

I decided to adopt a new team to follow in the NFC and settled on the Saints, who I have always pulled for a bit.
I will not being covering them extensively as of now,but they will be placed in the PPM.
New Orleans hosts Washington and the first start for Robert Griffin and his two high priced receivers in Pierre Garcon and Josh Morgan.
The Redskins look improved and this might be one of the more fun games to watch this week, but the Saints are too explosive...

The game of the week features the Packers against the 49ers.
I like Green Bay in this one and maybe big.
I might even say that I think San Francisco will be the biggest disappointment this season,I just think they are way overrated...

Last Week 4-0

Ohio State over Central Florida 19-12
Bowling Green over Idaho 32-10
Texas Tech over Texas State 34-24
michigan over Air Force 24-20
Eagles over Browns 34-16
Saints over Redskins 35-24
Packers over 49ers 31-17
