Seahawks draft grades
I really liked the Seahawks draft ,especially when you consider they were without a 1st round pick.
Josh Wilson was the Seahawks 2nd rounder from Maryland and even though he was drafted as a corner,I think he could eventually easily make the transition to safety.
Josh is a high motor, high character player that should be a big hit with Seattle fans.
Wilson was the winner of the James Tatum award, which is given to the top football student-athlete in the ACC.
Wilson is the son of former Terrapin and Houston Oiler Tim Wilson.
3rd rounder Brandon Mebane of Cal could have a future as a run stuffer, while 4th rounder Baraka Atkins is more of a rush type.
Some rumors of Atkins being a bit on the lazy side are floating out there as well.
I really liked the two second day selections to help the offensive line.
Georgia Tech guard Mansfield Wrotto has all the tools to be an excellent guard,he just needs polishing and patience.
Wrotto has only been on the offensive side of the ball for 1 yeat.
7th rounder Steve Vallos of Wake Forest played guard and tackle at Wake, but projects as an NFL guard.
As I noted when the Seahawks took Vallos-I am always a real mark for former amateur wrestlers that play offensive line.
I believe the training and skills helps a lot in preparing for NFL Line play.
5th linebacker Will Herring of Auburn could be a special team type.
I like both of the 6th round wide receiver picks-Courtney Taylor of Auburn and Jordan Kent of Oregon,
Taylor is a hard nosed possession type that is not intimidated by traffic, while Kent might have been one of the best all around athletes in the draft.
Kent has the type of size and speed to be a real find with some hard work..
Considering everything(No 1st rounder),if you consider Deion Branch as the number one pick-
I give this draft an A-.
Strictly on the players drafted,I would say a solid B.
Split the difference and call our actual grade a B+
