Happy Birthday,Rachel!

One of the pride and joys of my life turns 16 today.
No,not the Browns or the Pirates or even the Devils, but someone far more important to me than any of those,my daughter Rachel turns 16 today.

I am a bit emotional today because she means so much to me.
You see,Rachel was a long time coming for Cherie and I and I have always thought of her as our "Miracle Child",because we just were not sure we were ever going to be able to have her.
Ryan came so easily and being young,I just assumed that was the way it would be when we were ready for our second child.
Nothing could have been further from the truth as it took nine long years to finally have the good fortune to add Rachel to our family.

Rachel is very special to me because she reminds me so much of myself, which might not bide well for the future man in her life (Ha Ha!).
Not because she is beautiful because she is and I mostly certainly am not,but I love her attitude and outlook on life.
Rachel has more common sense than any child that I have ever dealt with and she reads people immensely well, which is a tremendous asset to have in today's world.
I hope to see both of those traits continue to prosper as she goes deeper into the world that we live in,

Rachel has been the rare child that is close with her mom and dad.
She has been the best daughter that a guy could ask for.
Her passions include making wallets (really! They are terrific and make great Christmas stocking stuffers, contact me for details!),being involved in her church, her two great buddies in Teddy and Big Ed and of course the New Jersey Devils and her favorites-Her "Adams" as she calls them in Adam Henrique and Adam Larsson.
Part of her birthday present is going to the Albany-Hershey game later in the month, where with some luck, she will get to meet both players.
It will be a long day,but I think the end result will be worth it for her.

Rachel and the lovely Cherie take such good care of me and it truly will be another happy/sad day when Rachel leaves us on that inevitable day down the road.
When Ryan left home,my life changed.
For the first time in my life,I was the only man in the house and I wondered what that would be like.
To my surprise,it's been for the better and that is not a knock on Ryan.
For as much as I miss him and the things that he added for example, the late nights shooting the bull on sports, comics etc or playing video games, this truly has been the best time of my life.

So Happy Birthday Rachel, thanks for being you at the age of 16 and thanks to Cherie for being so wonderful in raising such a terrific young lady.
I love you both very much!!!
