Pirates outlast Astros in 16!>?

The Piitsburgh Pirates blew a 3-1 lead in the 9th,struggled through some extra innings and then took a 4-3 victory on Adam LaRoche's single through the left side of the infield.
LaRoche took advantage of an Astros defensive alignment that played him to pull, had Houston played him conventionally,it likely would have been an out.
Happy as I am for LaRoche, who seems like a good guy that is genuinely bothered by his troubles in April, the bigger stories are these-Salomon Torres blows yet another save and the Pirates continue to have an anemic offensive lineup.
Torres does not seem to be up to the task of finishing games, but the Pirates do not seem to have a real option to replace him with.
Matt Capps is the closer of the future, but is not prepared yet,I am not a John Grabow fan,so I do not think he would be an improvement and there is no way that I want B.P. Chacon to give it a try.
SO I guess the Bucco fans are just going to have to ride this out all season and never assume a 9th inning lead is in the bag.
Pirates RBI went to Jason Bay (4th inning groundout), 2 to Adam Laroche (4th inning Sac fly and 16th Single) and Brad Eldred ,who crushed his 2nd homer of the year in the 5th.
Eldred needs to take advantage of every chance he gets to play,as it is pretty clear that the Messers Littlefield and Tracy are not his biggest supporters.
John "wayback" Wasdin picked up the win, improving his record to 1-1.
Why this guy is even on this team is just beyond comprehension, but he did the job last night.
Will be back later as this is a big day.
Devils-Senators Game 1,Pirates and Astros finish their series at 12;35(Tony Armas vs Wandy Rodriguez) and I have the Seahawks needs to get finished with the draft just 2 days away.
