Ohio State holds off gritty Indiana 34-20

The surprisingly gritty Indiana Hoosiers battled Ohio State to a draw for just under three quarters before two touchdowns punched through and allowed the Buckeyes to pull away for a 34-20 win.
Braxton Miller ran for touchdowns of 81 and 20 yards each and Boom Herron along with Carlos Hyde went over 100 yards rushing and a touchdown as well to aid in the Buckeye win.
Ohio State is now bowl eligible at 6-3,3-2 in the Big Ten and will travel to West Lafayette next Saturday and the waiting 4-5 Purdue Boilermakers.

Buckeye Leaves

1) Braxton Miller continues to grow at quarterback with his legs at least with two long touchdown runs.
Miller did not succeed as much when throwing as he completed five passes on the day.
One would think that the Buckeyes would have thrown the ball more considering the opposition to give Miller some game speed tosses...

2) The smashmouth ground game continues to be the bread and butter in Columbus with Miller,Boom Herron and Carlos Hyde all going over 100 yards for the game, but one has to think that Penn State and that team up north are planning on eight and nine men in the box to stop the run in two and three weeks respectively.

3) The offensive line is mowing people down in the running game, but the pass blocking is not quite up to the same level.
Braxton Miller was sacked four times and harrassed throughout the day.
The pass protection might be a bigger concern to me than the passing game itself at this time...

4) Give Indiana credit.Kevin Wilson took chances and was imaginitive on offense.
If he can keep that up and keep freshman QB Tre Roberson healthy-the Hoosiers might be a bowl team in two years...

5) Again with the bragging on John Simon, but ten tackles for a defensive tackle, three of those for a loss and a sack?
Numbers like that is why I cannot stop bragging on Simon!!!

6) Kudos to Carlos Hyde for his performance.Hyde had seen a reduction of playing time recently but jumped on the opportunity created when Jordan Hall missed the game.
Hyde adds a inside running dimension that the others just do not have at this time...

7) Ohio State attempted just 11 passes,so much for expanding the playbook it seems.
If you are not doing it against Indiana, then when?

Keeping this a bit shorter than usual,I'll try to be longer next week vs Purdue.
I still hope to get a Devils-Jets recap up soon and a cleaning of the inbox tomorrow!
