The New Jersey Devils knew that they were in trouble traveling to Los Angeles being down two games.
Now they are in huge straits as the Devils were smacked 4-0 in game three of the Stanley Cup finals and are now one game away from having their season ended.
Obviously,no Devils goals,so nothing to mention there.
The fourth and possibly final game of the series is Wednesday in Los Angeles...
Hell Raisers
1) The first goal was a borderline goal as no one could see the puck,it clearly could have been called frozen and instead the Kings kept whacking away (as they should have) and finally on the third try dribbled the puck past Martin Brodeur.
The Devils offense would not have made the goal up anyway, but it still was a whistle that should have been blown....
2) The Devils had their chances including a five on three in the first period.
New Jersey had five power plays with one of those being a four minute high sticking penalty that cut Adam Henrique.
The power plays has been unable to get things going and tonight was a major example of this.
When you are able to put just three shots on goal in over nine minutes of power play time, then things are not coming together...
3) The Devils just did not show up offensively.
I cannot take one player and say "you know,at least so and so showed up".
They did not.I wish that I could say that, but I really cannot.
I am not knocking efforts, just looking at the results...
4) I wish that I had more than I can write.
It seems to me that the Devils have just run into a team on an incredible roll, every break has gone their way,a goalie on an amazing run and the Kings are able to win even when not playing their best as they did in Newark,
5) That does not mean you throw in the towel and I hope to see a strong effort on Wednesday, but we will just have to wait and see if Wednesday is the day that starts the off season and the all the important questions that Devils fans will be talking about for the next few months...
