Cleaning out the Inbox

The Inbox gets cluttered quickly these days it seems,so off for another cleaning.

The Pirates will make last night's rain cancelled game with the Cubs up Monday afternoon at 12:35.

Zach Duke was scheduled to face Stephen Strasburg in his debut on Tuesday, but the rain has taken Duke out of the equation.
The P-G mentions either Jeff Karstens or a possible callup for Brad Lincoln, who is scheduled for Indianapolis on the same day..

What a horrible call by Jim Joyce in denying Armando Galarraga of the Tigers a perfect game last night.
I flipped over to watch the ninth during the rain delay and the Indian announcers were irate and that isn't even Galarraga's home announcers!
That said,Joyce handled it the proper way with immediately acknowledging his mistakes and offering apologies to Galarraga and the Tigers and this talk of a review and awarding a perfect game anyway is well intentioned, but wrong.
The call was made and the game is over and the ruling should remain the same.
This is different from a scoring decision, this was an on the field decision and despite being a terrible call should stand.

Want to wager which is more remembered for fans five years from now-Galarraga or Dallas Braden, who did throw a perfect game?
Our money is on Galarraga.

Jared Ramsden over at Hockeys Future takes a look at the Devils system in review of the 09-10 season. The Devils system is getting stronger and looks to be as deep as it has been in years.
I will be attempting to get another chance to talk to Jared about the Devils system.

Two quick goodbyes from recent passings.
First to Dennis Hopper at 74.
Hopper did many films but most notably to me Easy Rider and Hoosiers, which ranks as an all time favorite with Hopper winning an Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role as "Shooter".
An underrated Hopper role was from the 1990 film "Flashback" with a young Kiefer Sutherland.

Speedy Avenue of Flags passed away at 22 in New Mexico.
The stallion was once one of the early favorites for the 1991 Kentucky Derby, which was eventually won by Strike the Gold.
Avenue of Flags sired 20 stakes winners over his career....

After tomorrow and the Suns going on a road trip,I hope to use some time for the latest update on the signing front and catch up things for the month of May.
