The college conference volcano rumbling begins

The conference realignment shuffle conversation had revolved around the Big Ten and their discussions of what teams or any would be added, but the Pac 10 has apparently fired the first shot and beat the Big Ten to the punch as reports indicate that the Pac 10 has invited six schools from the Big 12 to join their league.
The raid would take five of the six teams from the Big 12 South-Texas,Texas A&M,Texas Tech,Oklahoma and Oklahoma State along with Colorado from the Big 12 North.
However, this is not a slam dunk as Oklahoma and Texas A&M prefer a move to the SEC,if they would have to make such maneuver, with Texas wanting no part of the SEC as they consider themselves to be above the SEC schools go as far academics go.
In the event of all six accepting a move West, those six would join Arizona and Arizona State as an eight team division.

Boise State looks to be possibly Mountain West bound in a move that makes tons of sense for both sides as the Mountain West attempts to lock up an automatic BCS berth and adding Boise before the month ends just might do that as Boise's numbers would count for the MWC,IF the offer is given and accepted before June is over.
Then again, the MWC could be a target for poachers as Utah,BYU,and TCU could be schools that the surviving Big 12 schools go after in an attempt to stay alive.
Those six (more likely five as Missouri is a solid favorite to go in any Big Ten expansion) could hook up with a few MWC schools and try to keep themselves as a viable conference.

The Big Ten is still quiet, but depending on their results could explode the Big East and send them into an ACC alliance for football and keep the basketball only colleges as a conference as well.

The first grenade has been lobbed, lets see how the landscape changes over the summer....
