Brodeur to the showers early in "Wild" loss

The New Jersey Devils scored two goals in the first period and one was the first of the game.
In between was the bad part as Minnesota scored three goals in between the Devils pair and scored the clincher in the third period on yet another ill-timed Ilya Kovalchuk giveaway in a 4-2 win for Minnesota.
Martin Brodeur got the start in goal, but allowed the three goals on four shots and was KO'es early in favor of Johan Hedberg.
Zach Parise (7) and Ilya Kovalchuk (6) were the Devils goal scorers.
New Jersey travels to Winnipeg tonight in an attempt to nip a bad start to the road trip in the bud after two losses...

Hell Raisers

1) I did not see the Colorado game, which left a large amount of Devils fans complaining about the teams effort.
I did not see that in this loss and I thought that the Devils outplayed Minnesota for the most part.

2) Martin Brodeur was a little off,but I did not think any of the three goals allowed were softees.
Sure, you hope your goalie can come up with one or two of those, but none so bad to bring winces or anything.
Perhaps Pete DeBoer had been tipped off by Marty about something, but more likely the switch to Johan Hedberg was to keep the guys hopping after the Colorado mess..

3) Zach Parise was the best player on this night.
A goal and assist and several just misses enabled Parise to have maybe his best game all season in his home state of Minnesota.

4) Ilya Kovalchuk did some nice things, but his increasing amount of turnovers that turn into breakaways is becoming a distressing habit.
I know most big scorers are not defensive oriented, but at least could we not hand the opponent the puck?

5) The Devils lead the league in shorthanded goals allowed and I bet they are near the top in breakaways allowed as well.
You simply cannot hang your goalies out to dry that much and expect to win games...
