Cleaning out the Inbox

Time for a quick sweep of the inbox in a shorter version than usual.

The Devils are in Minnesota tonight at eight to take on the Wild in what will be a better effort than their 6-1 loss to Colorado,I hope.
I will have coverage, although I may miss the end of the game to leave for work.

It looks like the Directv issues are fixed (I hope) and things will be back to normal now.
The last week has been a major pain, but the bonuses for that down time will add a decent amount to the blog, which we will be announcing soon.

Funny note of the week-During Grey Cup week, former B.C.Lions and Minnesota Vikings quarterback Joe Kapp met former Hamilton Tiger-Cat lineman Angelo "King Kong" Mosca in a Q and A setting.
Things did not go as well as planned as shown in the YouTube below.
My brother had a great line "Perhaps Mosca should have grabbed that steel water pitcher and slugged Kapp, like he did Pat Patterson in 1981"!

Sorry to hear of the death of former heavyweight contender Ron Lyle at the age of 71.
Lyle fought in the greatest age of heavyweight talent in history and would likely have been a champion had he been fighting today.
Lyle is remembered for being slightly ahead of Muhammad Ali after ten rounds before being stopped in the eleventh round of his only title challenge and for his war with George Foreman in what is the greatest heavyweight action fight ever in 1976.

Versus will become NBC Sports Network in January and the network plans on jumping into the boxing game with a new series in 2012 as well.
Between this series and the rumors that one of the networks and/or Spike Tv may be doing the same, this could be great news for boxing.
Boxing just needs more mainstream exposure and they will do just fine-UFC or no UFC.

Most of the attention in boxing is going towards the Miguel Cotto-Antonio Margarito rematch and it should, but Showtime has two pretty good ones tomorrow night as well with two bantamweight belts on the line.
IBF champ Abner Mares defends against the man he took the belt from in Joseph Agbeko in a rematch of a bout known for great action and awful officiating that cost Agebeko a draw,if not a win.
Full credit to Golden Boy Promotions for doing the right thing and putting Mares right back in with a deserving fighter,if he is promoted by a rival promoter in Don King.

The WBA 118 pound belt is on the line as well with champion Anselmo Moreno defending against long time favorite of mine-Vic Darchinyan.
The winner could unify belts with the Mares-Agbeko winner, but Darchinyan is talking about trying mixed martial arts after the bout,so we will have to see....
