Bucs split weekend games and more.

The Pirates split their weekend games vs the Dodgers, but could have earned a sweep.
One man stood in the way of that-Gas Can Torres.
Torres allowed 2 runs and 4 hits in a 2/3rds of an inning outing and allowed the game winning homer to Andre Ethier,as the Dodgers took the win 5-4.
Tom Gorzelanny could only watch as another winning outing got pissed away by the "solid" bullpen.
Gorzelanny threw 6 shutout innings, but did struggle in the seventh,as he was lifted for Gas Can.
This is where a good bullpen that is "a strength" should pick the starter up.
Not in this case or many cases of Torres appearing in games this year.
Torres and Grabow,God I would trade them for a set of Logoman bobbleheads and feel that I ripped them off!
Jason Bay(10th) and Adam LaRoche (6th) each homered for the Bucs.
Torres picked up the loss (least he could do) and fell to 0-2.

Saturday,Ian Snell pitched 8 great innings and new closer Matt Capps did what closers SHOULD do and slammed the door and the Pirates won 3-1.
Snell allowed just 1 run off 6 hits and improved his record to a deceptive 5-4 record.
Capps earned the save in his 1st situation since becoming the closer.
Xavier Nady homered, but the bigger story was more stupid base running by Pittsburgh.
Either these guys did not go over fundamentals in Bradenton or the coaches on this team are just plain dumb.
But Jim Tracy says "we'll clean it up'.
Yeah sure....

The Pirates finish the series vs Los Angeles tomorrow night.
Paul Maholm vs Derek Lowe-Why I am not excited,I am not sure.....

Bullpen Notes

Those of you that were children of the 70's and Ryan are saddened by the loss of Match Game icon Charles Nelson Reilly last week.
Reilly was known to my generation as one of three regulars on the Match Game show, which is the most popular show on the Game Show Network.
He was also known for his role on Saturday morning television (when that meant something) as the bad guy on the Krofft Brothers Lidsville and as a co-star on the Ghost and Mrs.Muir as well.

The Krofft brothers must have been using some really good dope back then.
If you watch that stuff now-It still does not make any sense!LOL!

The Pirates signed former Devil Ray Dewon Brazelton to a minor league contract.
Career record 8-25.And he is nuts to boot!
Should fit right in.

Going to scout the Lakewood Blue Claws for their 3 game series in Hagerstown tomorrow.
The Blue Claws are loaded with prospects and will be writing about them here and along with how I did on the signing front.

Pirates Mock Draft was today and I will post about it tomorrow here!
