Pirates win game,lose future.......................

The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Nationals 3-2 today in Washington, but the big story was yet another colossal blunder by the Dave Littlefield/Ed Creech drafting combo.
With the best position player in the draft (Matt Wieters),the best high school pitcher in the draft (Rick Porcello) and the 2nd best college pitcher (Ross Detwiler) all available for the Pirates, the Bucs instead selected Clemson lefty RELIEVER Daniel Moskos.
Moskos starts and relieves at Clemson, but seems to be a relief prospect in pro ball.
Typical Pirate pick.
He is a reliever (Littlefield loves them),he is a college pitcher (Dave and Ed love them),he does not have a high ceiling future(As usual) and most likely-he will come at a cheaper price.
I do not have enough bad things to say about this pick.
Moskos certainly was a 1st round level pick,but not a top 10 guy,let alone a top 5 pick.
You can see Moskos pitch tomorrow as he starts Clemson's tournament game tomorrow vs Mississippi State.
ESPN at 12 Noon.
Here is a link to the usual Pirate bullshit propaganda machine.

Meanwhile the Bucs used Freddy Sanchez's 1st homer of the year(a two run shot) to tie the game early and Jason Bay's solo shot in the top of the 9th to win it.
It was Jason's 11th of the year.
Ian Snell threw a strong 7 innings and Matt Capps pitched 2 to get the win.
Capps improves to 3-2 on the year.

Fausto Carmona continued his strong run by allowing 1 run over 7 innings to lead the Indians to a 8-3 win over the Royals in Cleveland.
Carmona is now 7-1 on the year.
The Indians smacked 3 homers off Kansas City pitching=Casey Blake (9th),Jason Michaels (4th) and Franklin Gutierrez (2nd).
Gutierrez's homer was his 2nd in 3 days.Grady Sizemore and Josh Barfield each knocked in two runs for the Tribe as well

The Indians used their 1st round pick on 1b Beau Mills of Lewis and Clark State.
Mills transferred to Frostbite Falls from Fresno State and put up HUGE numbers against very light competition.
Jury is still out on him,but I can see the gamble at 13.
Mills is the son of former Expo player and current Red Sox coach Brad Mills

The Cavaliers play Game 1 tonight in San Antonio vs the Spurs.
Good luck to the Cavaliers!

UPDATE-Quote of the day from Dave Littlefield.
"I think when you look at the end result, players come from every category," Littlefield said. "I don't think it makes sense to shy away from one category."

But to shy away from the best players available makes no sense either.
But then again,I am talking to the clueless in these two putzes.
