Favorable Matchup?

So much for my "favorable' matchup claim,as the Pirates lost to the Giants 8-5 .
The game really was not that close, only getting that close on a three run Chris Duffy homer in the 9th.
Zach Duke was knocked out after just two innings and Russ Ortiz went 8 and 2 thirds for the Giants to pace them to the win.
It was the first win for Ortiz since August 29,2005!
And of course,he picks now to win one, handing the Bucs yet another loss and making me look foolish.
So all around a crappy night for Pirate fans.
Horrible jerseys,Russ Ortiz wins (which happens as often as a lunar eclipse) and TWO
Barry Bonds homers. Ugh.
Pirates try again tonight with Tony Armas making his home debut vs the Giants and
Barry Zito at 7;05.

The New Jersey Devils go for a 2-0 lead tonight at the Meadowlands as they host Tampa in Game 2 of their series.Game time 7;00,so looks like watching the Devils live and rolling the Pirates on tape this evening.

Today's Notes

The Pirates wore their new Red alternate uniforms last night for the 1st time.
Two succinct words-They suck.
Worse that I expected and the names and numbers on the back were hard to see,at least on TV.
They looked like cans of tomato juice!
And this comes from someone that would choose red as his favorite color!

The Pirates also announced the retiring of Paul Waner's number 11 later this year.
Waner likely deserves the honor, but why wait 67 years after his retirement to do it and what changed now to make the move?
No truth to the rumor that this actually is for
Humberto Cota.

Interesting note on Real time with Bill Maher last night.
Former Senator Bill Bradley (D-NJ) offered a interesting stat.Bradley claimed that if the USA moved their fuel efficency standards for automobiles to that of European standards, the USA would not have to purchase ANY oil from the Middle East.
I will check on that further and I may address that in a post soon, but if true-WOW!
That seems to be a simple solution to a huge problem.

If the weather holds to forecast, looks like I will miss tomorrow's Frederick-Myrtle Beach game.
Was hoping to get stuff signed by two highly touted Pelican prospects-Elvis Andrus and Eric Campbell.

At least Duffy hit a HR!
This was the first victory for Russ Ortiz in his last, 32 appearances was it? I won't even comment on those uniforms...
