Random Ramblings
I was very impressed by the bat of Jamie Romak last night.
The ball he smashed out of Municipal Stadium last night would have left any park and in a brief chat before the game,he didnt seem to be sulking about being in the Sally League again.
Unless the Pirates really have no hopes for him (and why trade for him if they dont),he will not be a Crawdad for long.
I won't mention how he shouldnt have been one to begin with!
Jared Hughes looks really impressive as well off last nights performance.
His 5 scoreless innings looks even better,as he didnt walk a batter.
Sat down by 4/5ths of the Hickory starting rotation during last nights game and had a great time.
Lots of stories and info on the team, last years experiences at Williamsport and a story about the departed Joe Bauserman.
I will work on those after the series is over, when I have 10 days to kill without Suns baseball.
Got some things signed last night, the Big catches were the aforementioned Romak and top Nationals prospects Chris Marrero and Justin Maxwell.
Very impressed with the politeness and attitude of both players during our brief chat.
And in addition-both players agreed to be interviewed at some time during the season for this blog.
Maxwell has a super nice signature as well.
Game 2 of the series is tonight at the cold Municipal.I dont expect a great crowd.
Hickory will send Bradley Clapp to the hill (at least thats what he told me) and the Suns is not announced at this time.
The Pirates will attempt to move to 4-0 in Cincinnati tonight against the Reds.
Paul Malholm makes his season debut vs Matt Belisle.
And Finally-Congratulations to the New Jersey Devils on their 3-2 win last night over the Flyers in Philadelphia!
The win clinches the Atlantic Division title and Martin Brodeur set the record for most wins for a goalie in a season!
The Devils finish up the season Sunday vs the Islanders and then move on to the playoffs as the number 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.
